Hiring the right SEO Company for your needs

Hiring The right SEO Company for your needs is vital to the success of your business.

Ok you so you need to hire a search engine optimization company, you don’t know where to start so you do what you know. Type in Google for SEO companies only to be greeted with pages and pages of links. As you start to wade through the vast expanse of competition it dawns on you the task at hand is mighty. Some shower you with promises of high SERP’s. Others tell you that they guarantee page one ranking for your chosen keywords. But while many will give you some sort of promise there are only a few who can deliver. This article will point you in the right direction to making the right choice for you and your business.

A nice website doesn’t mean great SEO

Just because the website looks good and all dynamic it doesn’t mean they have a great knowledge of SEO techniques. Many of the websites used by SEO companies are mediocre at best. It can seem a little weird at first and I understand why you would expect them to be better but they are here to optimize not to design.

An SEO company that ranks number 1 in the search engines doesn’t mean it’s the best for YOU

This is really important and you should try not to be persuaded to quickly. Although there are many common factors when completing SEO work you should listen out to see if the company ACTUALLY listens to your needs. What is it that YOU want from your package and is it specificly going to help you and your business.

A big company might not be best

Perhaps you are a small business and need to have a more personal connection you’re your project leaders. Just because they have 500 employees it doesn’t mean that they have the best skills or knowhow. A two person company could be achieving better results, perhaps they have more knowledge and experience. They may not be following a cookie cut method.

Careful of scams

As sad to say it as I am there are many scam companies out there. You only need to go on any one certain website flipping sites to see how many pre-built websites are being sold daily which outsource all the work. It’s imperative that you make sure that the person your directly dealing with knows their stuff. Don’t take a chance and if it doesn’t feel right. Walk away.

Hiring The Best SEO Company and things to remember

Decide what you need.

As previously stated its important you know what you are looking for. Be sure that you are aware of the main services SEO companies offer. If your not sure take a look at my other article here which lists the most common services provided by SEO companies.  A good place to start is figuring out and understanding what needs to be done. Do you want extra sales? More traffic? Higher SERP’s? The truth is at some point you will want all of these but until then break it down and make a list. Even if you think it doesn’t seem relevant. Like ‘get more people to sign up to our baking class’ write it down. To an SEO expert that means conversions. To you it’s one thing to them it’s another. Its important that you are honest throughout your communication with your chosen firm. Which brings me onto the next point.

Consult, Consult and more Consultation.

After you have figure out what it is you want the next task is to sit down with the SEO firm and tell them exactly what you want. Honesty and transparency is key here and most, if not all companies should be offering a free consultation. It will also give you a chance to meet someone and test the waters. After all you DO need to have a strong relationship with the firm and feel comfortable. A level of trust on both sides is needed so again don’t be afraid to walk away if you don’t feel right.

Once you have chosen a firm and discussed all there is you will typically be greeted with a waiting period of a couple of days in order for research and a proposal to be sent out to you. One thing to remember here though is that some of the best SEO firms have got an abundance of clients wanting to work with them and if you shop around too much sometimes the firm will simply tell you they can no longer work with you. The key is to take your time, do your own research, and make an informed decision to accept or decline.

Ask for previous clients and examples

This can be difficult for some people to ask for. But it’s important to remember that you are about to hand over a fairly large sum of cash for a service. You wouldn’t do it blindly any other time so don’t do it now. If the company refuses to hand over any evidence of past success then walk away. You want to ask for some form of analytical data or proof that they improved traffic, conversion rates and clicks. SERP’s, page ranking etc.

To summarize what I am explaining make sure you set clear goals. Shop around not only for the best price but for the most suitable to your needs and a firm you believe is trustworthy. Do you research and try to get reviews from others who have used their service. Ask for case studies or examples of past success. By following these pointers you will be able to have a clearer understanding of what and who you choose to complete your SEO goals.
